One of the greatest misconceptions about Weight loss surgery is that it is dangerous and that it doesn’t last. I see many patients that have struggle with their weight for years. Many of them have done multiple attempts at weight loss with diet and exercise without long term success. If you are one of those, then weight loss surgery should be part of your arsenal to win the fight you have lost for years. This weight fight that is taking over your life, the same weight that is limiting all your activities and making you sicker.
Morbid obesity is a disease that affects all aspect of your life and body. It affects your heart, kidneys, lungs, bones and mind just to mention a few. It is also well known that obesity increases the incidence of certain cancers, not to mentioned that also makes them harder to treat. Medications need higher doses, diagnostic studies are not as reliable or sensitive and surgeries are significantly harder if you are Morbid Obese.

Weight loss surgery is one of the safest surgeries performed now a days. Having said that; it is surgery and complications can happen, but the mortality rate for weight loss surgery in the US currently is < 2 % and major complication rate is < 25%.
